Howdy -
Can anyone provide instruction on how you create the tail on a cut off rope for tying on?

We had a rope already cut off given to us and it's finally junked out. Thought we copied the tail right on the new one, but it snapped right apart the first steer I roped with it.

We won't see the gentleman who gave us the first rope for a few more months and not many around here tie on.

Look closely at the one you have-they key imo is the knots-I wish I had some pictures.  I had one given to me as well and when I need a new rope I end up waiting until the last minute and doing them myself-the first one I did was the worst but I've gotten better.  I believe I have a knot on the tail and one about 6" from the tail so when you tie on your knots will stop the rope from getting too tight.  Hoping someone can give you a little better info than I can.
