Snippy Hondo (aka. Hondo) is a kid-friendly gelding born and raised by the Alford/Zboril family. He was trained by my grandfather and me, and has always had the potential to be a jam up calf roping horse. He is quiet in the box and flat, and smooth across the line (will give you a shot 2-3 swings out every time). Will track a calf with ease. He has a nice stop and will immediately hit reverse once stopped. Will work rope enough to tug the calf but not enough to drag him. Stands still and quiet when being mounted in the arena. I use him as a breakaway horse but he has been calf roped on MANY times, I occasionally put a knotted rope on him to tune him up. He is amazing in the practice pen when taken to new places has a tendency to nicker a lot but it does not affect his run. I can rope consistent 2-3 second times on him in the breakaway. I recently moved to Hillsboro for college and need to limit the number of horses I have. He is very kid-friendly and husband safe. Has no problem going through pastures or across sketchy terrain or woods. He will go wherever you ask him to go, even through water (has been taken to swim in tanks before) Will be available to look at and try in Hillsboro, Texas or Caldwell, Texas (to be chosen by the person coming to look at him.)
